Singer Vehicle Design, the Californian custom Porsche maestro, is back at it—this time channelling the spirit of the 1980s with an ultra-limited homage to the Porsche 911 SuperSport SSE. Dubbed the 911 Carrera Coupé Reimagined by Singer, this latest build is part nostalgia, part cutting-edge engineering, and all heart-pounding brilliance.

Underneath the sleek carbon fibre bodywork lies a fully re-engineered Porsche 964, transformed from the ground up with obsessive attention to detail. The real party piece? A naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six engine developed in partnership with Cosworth, delivering a screaming 414 horsepower and revving beyond 8,000rpm. It’s Singer’s first engine to combine air-cooled cylinders with water-cooled heads, and it now features variable valve timing—a nerdy milestone the team wears like a badge of honour.

Paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and a titanium exhaust system that’s likely to set off car alarms in neighbouring postcodes, this Carrera is built for the purist. The chassis has been strengthened with help from Red Bull Advanced Technologies—yes, that Red Bull—to handle the modern-day grunt while preserving that old-school 911 magic.

Visually, Singer tips its hat to the 1980s SSE’s “Turbo look” bodyshell, reinterpreting it with modern flair. Among the standout features: 18-inch wheels clad in Michelin Pilot Sports, carbon-ceramic brakes, adaptive suspension with nose-lift, and—brace yourself—pop-up headlights. Yes, Singer brought them back. Yes, they’re glorious.

Inside, the cabin is a tailored tribute to Porsche’s golden era. Expect hand-crafted dials, vintage-style leatherwork, and just enough tech to make it liveable—but never sterile. Each car will be bespoke, and no two interiors will be the same.

Production is capped at just 100 units, ensuring exclusivity for those “high-performance connoisseurs” Porsche once referenced in its SSE marketing. And the price? If you have to ask, you’re probably not on the list.

As Singer founder Rob Dickinson puts it: “This is our tribute to the genius of Hans Mezger—a resurrection, a reinterpretation, and a celebration of the SuperSport spirit. We’re not just building cars. We’re telling stories.”
