While Formula E cars screamed through Monte-Carlo’s tight corners this weekend, Jaguar silently upstaged the lot with something altogether more provocative: the Type 00. Not a racer, but a rolling work of art — and a bold middle finger to the brand’s traditional past.

Making its splashy Riviera debut on a floating terrace above Monaco’s shimmering harbour, the Type 00 isn’t just a concept car — it’s a complete brand reset. Gone is the leather-and-walnut nostalgia; in its place stands a machine with the sculptural grace of an E-Type and the audacity of a sci-fi daydream. Painted in a mesmerising French Ultramarine, it looked more at home among superyachts and supermodels than in any showroom.

The Monaco launch followed its fashion-forward unveiling in Paris, where the Type 00 moonlighted as the chicest chauffeur ride of Paris Fashion Week, ferrying VIPs between haute couture shows at Valentino and Loewe. Now, in the flashbulb capital of speed and splendour, it’s clear Jaguar isn’t just updating its badge — it’s rewriting its DNA.

Gone are subtle cues and quiet evolution. The Type 00 is all drama: monolithic surfacing, brutalist angles, and lighting signatures that look like they belong on the moon. This is not a concept car for the drawing board — it’s a manifesto on wheels.

While Formula E engines whirred and buzzed nearby, Jaguar’s private terrace played host to a handpicked guest list of tastemakers, journalists, and VIPs. Here, the Type 00 was revealed up close — no velvet ropes, just raw design theatre.

“This isn’t just a design exercise,” said one Jaguar insider. “It’s where we’re going. Fast.”

Indeed, in a city where Veyrons blend into the background, the Type 00 managed the impossible: it turned heads. In doing so, it signalled something far more significant than another concept reveal — it marked Jaguar’s rebirth as a brand that’s finally ready to be as bold as its name.

In Monaco, where flash is standard and subtlety often goes unnoticed, Jaguar didn’t just compete. It dominated — without turning a wheel.
